In the morning, you will be picked up from the hotel for a full day sightseeing tour of Mumbai. As part of the amazing tour, you will visit the Gateway of India, one of Mumbai’s most famous landmarks built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary in 1911. The Gateway of India is a splendid 26-meter archway displaying an intricate latticework carved on stone and is the perfect way to introduce Mumbai to its visitors. In addition, it is an interesting example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. Learn from your expert guide the significance of these buildings and take some amazing pictures.
Also, visit the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (Victoria Terminus), a mock-Gothic edifice that celebrates the colonial might and the golden railway age. It is one of the world’s most ornate train stations with appeal so grand that it made it to the UNESCO World Heritage Site List.
Pay a visit to the Mani Bhavan, Mahatma Gandhi’s Bombay headquarters for about seventeen long and eventful years. Here you can visit the Mahatma’s room, the vast library and explore the photo gallery that showcases photographs of his childhood till his assassination.
During the sightseeing tour, you will also visit the open-air laundry area firmly known as Dhobi Ghat. A unique feature of Mumbai apart from the rest of the world, a Dhobi is a traditional laundryman who collects your dirty linen, washes them in an open area and then returns them neatly pressed to your doorstep. The massive area where the laundry is done is called a "Ghat". The clothes are soaked in sudsy water, thrashed on the flogging stones, then tossed into huge vats and hung out to dry. The process is non-stop, and more than two hundred Dhobis and their families work together in what has always been a hereditary occupation. After your sightseeing tour, you will be transferred back to the hotel in your own private vehicle.
